About Me
Hi, I’m Stephanie, a professional English teacher from the UK with over 10 years experience helping adults improve their confidence, fluency, and communication in English.
I specialise in working with international adults and professionals who want to feel more natural and comfortable when speaking English. I help them with travel, work, study or everyday conversation. I’ve taught learners from all over the world, both in-person and online, and I’m passionate about making lessons engaging, practical, and useful.
My Background
I started teaching English to young French students at a summer school for the first time when I was 18 years old, and since then have experienced working in private tutoring, private academies, ‘eikaiwa’ in Japan and in language schools. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in TESOL and Japanese, along with a CELTA qualification, and have taught in a variety of contexts such as group lessons and 1-to-1 lessons in both Japan and the UK.
During my time in Japan, I lived and studied in both Fukuoka and Tokyo, where I taught English to adults. I also studied Japanese formally at university, so I know exactly how challenging learning a language can be!
Learning a language myself has helped me better understand the challenges learners face, especially around speaking confidence, listening skills, and cultural nuances.
My Teaching Style
I carry out my lessons with Microsoft Teams. My approach is friendly, supportive, and learner-focused. I believe that learning should feel practical and motivating, not overwhelming or textbook-heavy. I tailor lessons to your goals (whether that’s improving small talk, using grammar more accurately, preparing for a job interview, passing an English exam or giving a business presentation).
You’ll speak a lot and practise drills a lot in our lessons and I’ll give clear, constructive feedback in real time. I also offer structured support outside of lessons, such as notes, vocabulary reviews or homework (only if you want it!).

Price List
Lessons are carried out via Microsoft Teams, though I am open to discussing other platforms to suit your preferences1. Base Rate (per 45-minute lesson)
* General English (1:1 online): £20 per 45 minute lesson (90 minute lessons also available)
* Business English / Specialised (e.g. interview prep, presentations, CVs, meetings, negotiations): £30 per lesson
* Pair/Buddies Lessons (couples, friends, family members, colleagues (2 - 5 learners)): £12 per person per lesson2. Standard Packages (payment in advance required)
* 5 x 1:1 Lessons: £100 → 10% discount = £90
* 10 x 1:1 Lessons: £200 → 15% discount = £170
(Valid for 3 months from purchase)3. Specialised Intensive Packages
* Exam prep (IELTS, CAE): 8 lesson course (£30 per lesson) = £240
* Business English crash course: 6 lessons (£30 per lesson) = £180
* Bespoke course (i.e. medical professional, law, teacher (prior consultation required)) : 6 lessons (£40 per lesson) = £2404. One-off Trial Lesson/ Taster (25 minutes, one-time payment, no sign up required)
* General English (1:1): £10 per trial
* Business English / Specialised: £15 per trial
* Pair/Buddies Lessons: £5 per person per trial
Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy
To ensure fairness for all students and to protect teaching time, please review the following:Rescheduling
* You may reschedule a lesson with at least 24 hours’ notice (subject to availability).
* Rescheduling requests made less than 24 hours in advance will be treated as cancellations.Cancellations (Prepaid Lessons)
* If you cancel with more than 24 hours’ notice, you won’t lose the payment. You can either:
* Reschedule the lesson at a mutually agreed time, or
* Have the lesson credited to your package (if you bought a package)
* If you cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice or do not attend, the lesson will be counted as used and no refund will be issued.No Refunds for Prepaid Lessons
* All payments are non-refundable, but lessons can be rescheduled with proper notice.
* If I ever need to cancel a lesson, I will offer you the choice to reschedule or receive a full refund.How to Cancel/Reschedule

Technology
* Lessons are delivered online via Zoom or Google Meet.
* Students are responsible for ensuring they have:
a stable internet connection;
a working microphone and camera (where possible); and
a quiet environment suitable for learning.If technical issues prevent a lesson from taking place, we will work together to find a fair solution.Respectful Behaviour

Students are expected to treat their teacher and fellow students with courtesy and respect at all times. Abusive, threatening, discriminatory or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated. This includes offensive language, harassment, causing any form of discomfort to me or fellow students, sexual harassment, intimidation, hate speech, or any form of bullying.If such behaviour occurs, the lesson may be ended immediately. Repeated or serious incidents may result in the immediate termination of tuition without refund for any unused lessons.Recording Lessons
Lessons may not be recorded without the knowledge and consent of everyone participating. If you wish to record your lesson, please notify me in advance.Privacy
